Invisible Links internet contractor refuses to compensate freelance writers

I was hired by this contractor as a subcontractor to write articles for a client website. Having acquired the job through a reputable site and noticing this contractor had a history of providing past jobs; I did not feel I was at risk.

I started writing towards the end of the month and received a small compensation; however, I received nothing for the second month. I was told there was a problem with her bank accounts. I waited a short period of time. Later, I tried to solve the matter with her on an amicable and personal level, but she does not respond to the emails.

She also closed her account on the freelance site shortly before the pay day. Thus, I was prevented from seeking compensation through the site.

My non-compensated work is appearing on the client network. Due to the fact that the client paid her (the contractor,) they had no way of knowing she was not compensating the writers. This is not an isolated case.

Her pattern is to prey upon writers who reside outside the U.S. When inquiring about their pay, she threatens them with non-existent legal action. She attempts to strike fear in writers who have no knowledge of the U.S. Legal system.

I have been in touch with other writers who did not receive compensation, whose work is also on the network. After learning that her threats of legal action were no more than scare tactics, more writers are coming forward. At this point we all realize we will not be compensated. We wish to only to stop her from continuing this predatory and fraudulent practice.

She is pocketing money that is not hers, as the clients are paying her directly for the total number of submitted and accepted articles. The actions of this person are looking more and more like a well thought out plan to scam and steal from writers. She is a scammer, so beware!
