Requires people moving to sign up for another year of FIOS service or terminate their contract

In May I signed up for a 2 year contract with Verizon FIOS. I got their 3 part bundle of FIOS Internet, HD TV and phone. I was told at the time, since I was looking for a new house, that if I were to move and the new home could get FIOS I was required under contract to move the FIOS with me.

Here it is September I'm getting ready to move and I called Verizon to ask them if my new place would get FIOS. Thankfully, since I truly enjoy the service, FIOS is available at my new place and at an even faster speed than I currently get. I called Verizon and asked for the customer service rep, Mrs. Atkins to set a moving date.

Mrs. Atkins informed me that Verizon policy requires anyone moving to set up a NEW contract. Thinking I got lucky, I jumped at the chance to dump the phone from my service as I never use it over my cell phone. But then I was informed that Verizon policy requires the "new" contract to be the same as the old contract, except that it will lock me in for another year.

Currently, my contract is set to expire in April- May which is only 7-8 months away. However, due to this "policy" on Verizon's part, I will be required to add an additional 4-5 months on that will still include the 3-part bundle that I no longer want. I have been informed that I can change parts of the bundle, paying more or less for different levels of TV or Internet, but I am not allowed to drop the phone off the contract even though this is supposedly a "new" contract.

Neither can I just transfer my current subscription contract over to the new address allowing my contract to run out in April- May instead of September- October.

I am currently waiting on a call-back from a manager at Verizon as well as in the process of writing letters to every address I can find to talk to someone about their unreasonable idea of forcing me to extend my contract or face termination charges.
