Lied to me about fees and charges Manhatten New York

Verizon is the worst company that I have ever had to deal with.in January I moved into my first home. I called Verizon ahead of time to schedule the move date and to cancel my DSL service (because my new house is located in an area that doesn't offer DSL service).

My contract with Verizon for the DSL was still in effect but when I spoke to the representative about canceling because of the move they told me I did not have to pay the cancellation fee because the cancellation wasn't optional I didn't have a choice to keep the service.

So, I went on my merry way getting my new home in order and low and behold three months later (in March) I received a bill for internet service. I called Verizon immediately to find out why I was being charged and explained that I had cancelled the service in Jan. And that I was told I wouldn't have to pay any contract cancellation fees.

After the normal torment of transferring you to 5 or 6 people, I finally spoke with a supervisor in the Customer Cancellation Services Dept. Named Mr Goodman. He proceeded to tell me that the charges were valid and that I had to pay them. I argued that I was told otherwise. He told me that they had no notes on the account stating that. They didn't even have any notes that I called at all in January. I pleaded with him asking why Verizon wouldn't stand behind what their representatives told their customers. He didn't care, he was very rude to me.

I hung up in frustration with nothing having been solved. I just tried calling again about the same issue because my bill is 2 months past due (I told them I wasn't paying and I won't) and got passed around again to 6 different people and some told me I would receive a credit and others said I wouldn't.

I am at my wits end with this company! I don't know how to resolve this and it is unfortunately going to affect my credit because, like I said, I won't pay them.

I have since cancelled my regular phone service with them... Wouldn't be surprised if they continue charging me for it though.
