I came to this website and read all of the comments of how vonage will not cancel your service when you request it or charge $200 and $300 cancellation fees to your account without telling you. WELL NOT THIS PERSON! I got a new number and a new company for my phone service but before I cancelled with vonage I called my bank and cancelled my debit card that vonage had on file.
I then waited until I got my new credit card in the mail and activated it and called my bank to make sure the card that vonage had was cancelled. The bank confirmed and I THEN called vonage to cancel and the lady told me that none of my passwords were correct so she could not cancel my account. I told her that I know my passwords because I SET THEM! She told me that she could not cancel my account because none of my passwords are correct.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me that she would get one for me but it would be a 30 minute wait. I told her that I now a supervisor is available and she did not want to get one. She said please hold for a supervisor and then came back on the phone and tried to change her voice and pretend to be a supervisor. I told her that I knew it was still her and I wanted to cancel my service she said that she could not do that.
I asked for a supervisor again and she put me on hold and never came back to the phone. The lesson is MAKE SURE TO CANCEL THE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD THAT THEY HAVE ON FILE (BEFORE) YOU CALL TO CANCEL that way they cannot charge you any cancellation charges and steal money from your account (that will be in dispute for months and create caos in your account). When they try to charge for this month it will not be approved because that cc no longer exist.
These are hard financial times and I WILL NOT LET ANYONE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY HARD EARNED MONEY! Please cancel your cards before you call to cancel with vonage and this will save you a headache. I GUARANTEE they will cancel my account BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO WAY OF GETTING ANY MONEY FROM ME!
