I bought a wonderful bulldog (also not turning out to be quite a "mini"), but this experience has been absolutely horrible in working with Lisa Vitale and Bulldog exchange. I also had difficulty getting in contact with Lisa. Very much on her terms and blew me off a number of times. She never sent me pictures of the parents as I requested numerous times. I picked out a puppy with traditional red and white coloration and waited patiently until the date she would be flying home.
When I went to the airport last August to pick up my puppy the puppy I received was not the puppy I had picked out. I knew right away because her coloration was very different. This female pup had more of Boxer coloration. Nonetheless, I took her home and loved her.
The next day I called Lisa and informed her I was sent the wrong puppy. She questioned me, asking if I was sure, and in response asked for me to send her a photo. Sure enough my puppy was sent to Oregon and this puppy was meant to go to Oregon. I was already attached to this great puppy I had for two days, but went back to the airport to send her to her family in Oregon.
After waiting another two days I went to the airport to pick up my puppy. To my dismay she had no health papers and I had sent the other puppy's papers connected to her crate. When I emailed Lisa for health papers she asked whether I could get them from the other owner (whom I had no idea who they were, or contact information). I told her no and asked her to send me shot records. A week later I asked again and pursued the issue many times more.
Within the time required by my contract, I took my puppy to the vet for an initial checkup. She had a herniated umbilical cord, of a more serious type than usual, and a heart murmur. After faxing Lisa the vet report I called to let her know. She told me her vet didn't detect a heart murmur, and was my vet positive. Hernias common in puppies, but was told the expense would come if there was a difficulty in the intestine and could be fixed at time of spaying with extra cost.
At this time I was still pursuing her shot record to no avail and being blown off with a lets wait and see attitude with the heart murmur and hernia. I realize I was angry about getting the wrong puppy initially with multiple trips to the airport, and then never getting the health records, but Lisa's flippant attitude was making me unsure about ever going through the internet for purchasing my pet. I felt irresponsible and angry with Lisa for being so flippant about one of her puppies and with the reputation of her breeding business.in pursuing the matter of the shot records she finally sent me shot dates of the puppy.
Within my pursuance I sent her a letter through guidance of a lawyer and told her I would keep this puppy with possibly health issues if she would compensate me for my airport trips and the hernia that would need to be fixed. She never responded except with an email weeks later that if I sent back my puppy she would be willing to replace it. Let me remind you that I had my puppy already for 6 weeks and was in love with this creature.
I am only writing this information in hopes that someone else does more research than I had. I had only viewed the good things about this breeder and now wish I would have done so much more. Please think twice before purchasing a puppy through this breeder and thanks to others who have taken the time to write in.
