Buyer Beware - Dell Will Sell A Sows Ear & Tell You It's A Silk Purse

In 7/08, DELL sold me a Studio 17 laptop. There have been constant problems.

I paid nearly $4,000 and received a laptop that looked like it had been thrown down on an asphalt road, the mouse pad did not work, the volume did not work, the touch buttons did not work, the finger print reader did not work, the built for Dell Sleeve did not fit, and the 85 whr battery would not last an hour.

Dell charged my credit card before I received the equipment. Every call goes to technical support over in India. Every tech support person speaks broken-English that's almost impossible to understand. It's a waste of time. I have tried to go up the ladder but the technical people refuse to pass you to their supervisor. DELL CUSTOMER CARE is no help.

I have been assured 20 times that my problems would be worked out to my satisfaction. 4 months, a mother board, a mouse pad, many hour long phone calls, multiple technician trips later and I still don't have any battery life, touch buttons do not work, no volume, clock will not keep time or date, printer will not work, and the unit just randomly shuts down and documents and hours worth of work are lost.

DELL doesn't care. I stopped by the Round Rock, TX facility in person and asked to speak to a DELL official about my situation but was given the run around and told to fill out a service request.
