I saw MagicJack's infomercial on TV and called to order it. It was a recording. Everything was done by pressing buttons. I did not order the extra year, and I did not want rush shipping. This was almost two weeks ago.
Today, I checked my bank account and MagicJack had charged me twice in the amount of $70.80 (the device, which is $39.95, plus S&H, plus $19.95 for the second year service, and $3.95 for rush shipping). They also threw in a charge for $23.90.
I spent two hours on a chat on their website. They would not refund my money until I returned the device, which I don't have yet. Meanwhile, they charged me twice for one device, and charged me for rush shipping which I didn't get. They also charged me $23.90 and never could tell me what it was for.
Maybe the device works. I don't know. I won't ever know because I will not put up with their lousy so-called customer service. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to the bank to stop payment, and I'm returning the device marked return to sender. I'm hoping the bank will have mercy and not charge me an arm and a leg to stop payment.
I would advise anyone not to try MagicJack. They don't have customer service to back up their invention. One day maybe someone will, and then they'll have a good idea.
