Consumers Union is always reminding us to be careful with our personal information, including credit cards. Don't give out your credit card number to companies that want to store them or bill you without first asking.
But ConsumerReports Online does just that. They will not take cash even for a multi-yeaer subscription. They desparately want your credit card number and they will automatically bill them, they won't ask, just keep charging until you cancel the card
