Two years (or so) I set-up a web site to honor my father's work (he is a sculptor) we created a page as a place holder.
The domain name is enrimoretti.com
This was set-up as an auto renew billing.
All payments are up to date. Balance due is $0.00.
Everything was fine until we decided to move to a different provider chosen by my site designer - (more convenient to him and handles the interface with the software he uses to create sites). When we did this - the owner of Webcountry a Mr. Phil Shapiro - instead of transferring the site as requested, put the domain in his name and refuses to do the transfer unless:
1 - We fill out a form that basically gives him unlimited access to my credit card.
2 - Provide him with an official document such as a driver's licenses or passport. (Bank has advised against doing either of those)
Meanwhile the domain remains locked and untransferable.
I looked them up under the better business bureau and they have over 90 complaints from various customers about this Shapiro individual and his company.
