I joined classmates.com, and signed up for a 7 day free trial. I was asked for a credit card number. It stated on their website, this was to continue a membership, if it was not cancelled within 7 days. It also stated that NO CHARGE would be made on my account until the 7 day free trial was over. Well, low and behold, notice from my bank that I had 2 bounced checks and $70 in fees. After checking my account on line, I noticed that classmates.com had billed my account the same day (within minutes) of me signing up for this "so-called" FREE trial. How can they get away with this? I can see doing an "authorization" on a credit card for a nickel or so to see if it is valid, but to actually bill someone 7 days before they are expecting a charge? This is outrageous. Their "live support" person was very rude, insisting that I joined for 2 years, and did not select a free trial. If this happened to me, I'm sure it's happened to others. Let's not allow this to happen to anyone else.
