Continued Visa billing by Net Zero long after all accounts had been cancelled. California

I had a dial-up account with Net Zero back in 2006.in October I got a "fast" internet connection and cancelled my Net Zero account by telephone. Although I never consented verbally or otherwise to continue any sort of account after Oct.Net Zero has continued to bill my Visa account ever since. I should have noticed this, but I did not (my wife finally spotted it). Their "support" staff maintains that I consented to continue an account with them. At first I believed this might have been some sort of misunderstanding with the rep I had spoken with. However, reading the messages on usacomplaints.com strongly suggests that continued billing after cancellation is simply Net Zero's standard business practice (just read the similar messages on this site!) Obviously I made no further use of Net Zero's services after the cancellation date, and Net Zero's continued billing of my Visa account seems clearly fradulent. It seems to me that this is simply a form of identity theft. I would suggest that anyone who has a similar experience with Net Zero contact their state Better Business Bureau and file a report there. Credit card companies should also be contacted. If they do not wish to cooperate in putting an end to this billing practice, there are always other credit card offers in the mailbox. Contemplating legal action over an amount of around $100 is not something most people would bother with, but the corporation evidently counts on this fact. If these reports continue to pile up, some enterprising lawyer should consider going after the culprits.in any event, when you cancel any internet service, it pays to watch your monthly credit card statements like a hawk.
