I have a gem of a contact at the BBB in Washington DC and they suggested this: "Call them and see what happens. If they give you a hard time, tell them that the BBB has already been informed, as they have called to verify who you are, and you will contact your State Attorney General, Consumer advocacy department who will press charges against all parties involved for false advertisement. You will contact the Federal Trade Commission and report them for unethical business practices. You will inform the media, newspaper and radio.in other words, if they don't cancel your membership, all h*Ll will break loose. Remember to never raise your voice and speak calm and don't use profanity no matter what. They will be recording the conversation. Be professional and stern."
