For christmas I finally bought myself an mp3 player and was really excited to start putting music on it. I had a free music trial through Best Buy music but my computer wasnt able to use the program needed. So I had heard alot about what I thought was called Linewire.com (later found out it was Limewire.com) and so I went to www.linewire.com and went through the steps to register.
Everything was fine until I reached the reciept part where I realized they had charged me for some protection program I never asked for. All I had asked to pay for was $1.99 a month for 1 year adding up to $23.88 but now it said I was being charged for the $23.88 and the $14.88 protection program.
So I wrote them an email saying that I had better not be charged for this $14.88. Next I tried to download the program needed to buy music but it didnt work for me, so I asked my husband for some help. He uninstalled the program and then tried to install it again but this time it messed up our computer with corrupted files.
My husband spent an hour trying to fix the computer, finally after 4 hours of trying to use this program I gave up and wrote another email asking that they cancel my account and to not charge me because I had not been able to use their program. I got an email back saying they dont give refunds and I may be subject to early cancel fees, this made me mad because in their own website it says they do refunds and there is a satisfaction guarentee. They also emailed that I could call them but no number was given and there is no phone number on the website only email.
I have now email my bank to dispute the charge but my bank is closed until tomorrow because of the holiday. I am not really sure what to do this is obviously a scam and now I might get charged $40 for something I never used!
