Dear Comcast,

I am writing to wish you all a happy holiday season and to cheerfully remind you how patient and steadfast we all are here in the XXXXXXX home. At this time of giving and of appreciating all that we are fortunate to possess, we here XXXXXXX in San Jose want to say that we share your pain over the downturn in your recent fortunes. We hope you will hang in there and that you realize the stock market is a finicky beast and you will bounce back, given enough time.

In the meanwhile, we want you to know that we havent forgotten you, even though it has been months since we contacted you last. I guess we are to blame for the gap in communication since we may have forgotten how busy you are with your profit and loss issues and making all that money and we may fail to appreciate where your priorities are, in our sometimes selfish zeal to get the our own needs taken care of expeditiously.

The fact that you have never called us once or that you have never returned a call that we made to you should not deter us from our relationship. It is at this time of year that we begin to appreciate the enormous pressure you must be under to keep your business alive and as I think about it, our $200.00 a month, even though paid on time and for years now, is not very much help to you in the big picture (no pun intended, lol).

I have to admit my family has been unfairly painting a picture of you guys as being unfair, greedy, uncaring, and blind to your obligation to the little guy, the guys like us, who are the foundation of your assets and continued business. Whats one family, or ten, or a hundred to a corporation like Comcast? They say. They dont even have a system in place to return a call, never mind follow through on fixing and repairing damage they have caused, my stepdaughter shouts. I guess she is referring to this interesting and mysterious entity you have, called Escalation, surely the cleverest device ever invented to soothe the worries of folks like us when there is a problem you at Comcast have that you need to take care of, especially when it is immediate.

Myself? I am less worried. I have the greatest confidence that you havent forgotten us. That you will surprise us all and walk through that front door with your repair equipment in hand and begin the job of repairing the hole in the wall your installation guy made when his drill slipped. I guess its my fiance I worry about. She moans and groans endlessly about the fact that she took out a loan and spent 180,000 dollars on that room which, coincidentally, was finally completed not three weeks before that fellow from your company ripped that huge gash in her new wall. She constantly harps on the fact that I called you guys for three days straight, after being assured a repair-person was going to immediately arrive to fix the wall and no one showed up. She drones on and on about the weekly phone calls I made for a month or two after that, when there was no response from the Escalation department. Oh ye of little faith, I said. And she smirks. Ah well, I guess there is a smidgeon of room for doubt on her part. I admit it. I just refuse to believe Comcast would be so cavalier as to ignore us for eight months. I refuse to believe there is not a good reason for the vaunted Escalation department to not even call us once to even evaluate the damage claim. Not that I dont have the paperwork, no problem there. I even checked every time I called to verify if the last fellow or gal had made the notes in the computer of the prior call, so that they would see for themselves how many times the Escalation department had failed to acknowledge us and our needs. But you must have great faith in that department because while no one ever helped us directly, they never failed to refer us again to the same department that was, in reality, doing nothing to help us, or seeming to do such. Again, I dont believe it for one minute.

Anyway, dear friends, my stepdaughter has agreed to stop with the name-calling and my fiance has agreed to let me handle this, as I am the man of the house and I should know how to handle these things. I wont bore you with the story of what happened when I took the second car in last month and havent seen it since. Something about the parts being shipped from Korea. Im thinking of calling their Escalation department!

Yours sincerely and happy holidays again,

All of us at the XXXXXXX house,

Peter
