It is so stupid and shameful. I was about to go with Verizon for my business with one phone line and internet; they were offering me $112 per month, month to month. I called Comcast just to ask the price, and the person there told me that taxes with Verizon are high and Comcast is the best. I had signed a lease for my business for one year, but Comcast, without telling me, signed me up for 3 years. The person on the phone never told me that I would have Comcast for the next 3 years even though my lease was for one year. I called customer service to cancel it and found out that I am stuck with them.
The worst part is that they will not let me out of the contract unless I sign a paper saying that I will pay them 75% of the remaining contract. I have taken contracts law and never saw a contract like this, where one party cannot get out. It is my civil right to break the contract. Under contract law I might pay for the damage I caused, but in this case the damage to Comcast would be $120, the $10 a month discount that they gave me. So instead of paying $120 more a year, they are now inducing me to pay 75%, which is ridiculous.
I have contacted Comcast several times. The supervisor told me they would call me and I never received a call. The last time I talked to a representative, I asked her to give me in writing that somebody would call me, but I have never heard anything. Comcast thinks I am going to pay them. No, I will wait until you take me to court, where you will definitely lose.
