I have had peoplepc for me internet service for almost a year when I decided to upgrade from dial-up to DSL. I called People Pc in Augest of this year to try and cancel. The representative I spoke with kept offering me free months of service instead of just cancelling. I asked to cancel. She claimed she put the cancellation through but never gave me a confirmation number. Story over. Right? WRONG!
After two month of not hearing anything from peoplepc, one of their representatives calls me saying I am two months behind on payments I needed to pay then immediately or the account would go to collections. I called them back telling them I cancelled two months eariler. They told me I had to pay the two month back payment in order to stop it from going into collections and promised to give me a full refund. I complied with their request and the next day the money was withdrawn. They told me the money would be back in my account within a week and gave me a confirmation number of this request.
I checked my bank statement three days after the back payment call and saw not only did they withdraw the two months of service they withdrew another month of service and an account fee. When I called this time they said the account was reopened and therefore was charged for the activation and the first months fee. I told them I did not authorize it and I needed to speak to a supervisor. They insisted all the monies would be refunded to me at the end of the week.
End of the week came and nothing was deposited. I called back and then they tell me they were only refunding half of the amount they withdrew, claiming that was all headquarters would allow them to do. Funny thing is one of their representatives gave me the number to headquarters to get my money only to find out the number was just another line they use for their customer service!
I asked to speak to this Headquarters and they abruptly said sorry thats all we can do and hung up!
Word of wisdom: STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE PC!!!
