MSN, Horrible ripoff software that ruined my pc. Redmond, Washington

Monopolizes industry; prevents innovation cheated employees and screwed the customers even more...

Yes, we all know about Big Bad Big Brother Microsoft. Unfortunately, what most people don't know is that they are now including even more abusive EULAs (End User License Agreements) in their software which further invade the privacy of end-users.

Take, for example, the clauses included in the EULAs for security patches for Windows Media Player and for Service Packs for XP and Win2K. They include clauses that, if agreed to, allow MS to install anything they "deem necessary" on your machine without your knowledge or consent. You cannot get the updates, and therefore cannot patch security holes, without agreeing to these abusive EULA terms.

What, you ask, might they deem necessary? It could be DRM technology (Digital Rights Management), such as code that blocks a user from playing his/her music and video files without MS's consent, or a spider that sends information to them about activities one undertakes while on his PC.

What's next? I can imagine the EULA terms a year or two from now including something like "By installing, copying, or otherwise using this software the user hereby agrees to a forfeiture of all rights to any data on the aforementioned device where "software" is installed, and hereby also acknowledges that any information stored on a machine where "software" runs is the sole property of Microsoft Corporation."

STOP buying their products. Switch to Linux or Mac or something, or you may find that you don't own anything at all anymore, even your own body.
