No refund for microsoft screwup

Microsoft has sent out updates for the Zune media player. The update has caused the players to freeze up. From there you are put through a series of troubleshooting steps by Microsoft Support. At the end of your painful day, weak or month of trying to get the Zune to work, a representative will inform you to send the player in for repair and if your one year warranty has expired you will have to pay for the repair. This really bewilders me. Microsoft sends an update with no warnings. The update breaks your device and they want to charge you for it.

Is it just me or is something wrong with this picture. It seems to me companies are not being held responsible for their actions nowadays.

If their is anybody out their dealing with this please let me know.

The player is not all that expensive, but it is the principal. What happen to taken care of the customer.

I have been hung up on by microsoft reps. Told I cannot go back to a version of the software that works with the firmware.

Issue: Update Software for Zune is not compatible with Firmware. Firmware cannot be updated. Microsoft is calling this a bug.
