Refuses to give refund after hassel

I have not used my People PC account since approximately October of when I switched to cable internet. Since then, I have called on numerous occasions to get my account cancelled and it has always resulted the same way. I give the account information to the customer service representative, and get put on hold, only to go continuously in circles. All together, I have spent over 5 hours on hold. I have never gotten anywhere close to being able to cancel my account.

People PC has continued to charge my account since October of '05. When they caused my checking account to be overdrawn, I had enough. It all started the exact same way, waiting on hold forever, and then the phone connection would be lost. They'd hang up on me.

I finally got through to speak to someone that could cancel my account. He stated that he could see we had called 3 times between today and October of '05. He said it was MY responsibility to keep calling in order to get the account cancelled, and that he could not grant me a refund. I asked to speak with his Supervisor, and once again was put on hold. Not being of high intelligence, he hadn't put me on hold yet, and was talking to someone sitting near him. Speaking Spanish to her, he called me a "B*h." I would have said something about it, but at that point, he seemed to have realized that I was still on the phone and put me on hold.

Speaking with his supervisor, she told me that we hadn't attempted to call any other time but today. When I brought up the fact that the previous man on the phone had told me that we had called 3 times, she began to argue with me. I thought the saying was, "The customer is always right"? She kept telling me that there was no record of us calling, and had me speak to the first guy again.

He tried claiming that I had told him that we had called 3 times. I had never specified how many times I had called before, he was the one that told me. When I brought this up, he started to get defensive and said, "Nuh-uhh" as though he was a 5 year old. He was tired of hearing me complain, so he sent me back to his supervisor.

She was still not helpful and kept telling me that she believed that we had never called in before. My account is supposedly cancelled for now and she kept telling me to call back with my cancellation number if I had problems. Only thing was, they hadn't given it to me. When I finally got it, she refused to listen to me anymore and told me that there is nothing else she can do. That they refuse to give me a refund.
