Continued to charge me after I cancelled, Poor customer service - continues to lie about refund

DO NOT give your credit card number or checking account number to this company!

We became customers of Directv in 2003.in October we moved and tried to transfer our service to our new home. The technician could not install because of the trees around our home so we told him to cancel our service.

On December 16 a payment for service was withdrawn from my checking account. For the four years I was a customer I NEVER signed up for automatic payments. And once your account is marked, whether you or the company does it, you can not cancel this feature!

I called Directv and after being on hold for 21 minutes finally had the opportunity to talk to a customer service rep.

She proceeded to tell me that the technician did not work for their company and could not cancel the service so she was canceling my service as of Dec 16. We never had Directv in this house, but that didn't seem to matter. She stated she would process the refund and cancel my service.

Two weeks later I noticed a charge for $198 on my credit card, a cancellation fee. So again I called Directv and after 16 minutes on hold asked to speak to a supervisor, which took another 10 minutes to come on the line. He looked into my account and notice that indeed, I did not owe a cancellation fee since I did fulfill my original contract. He promised to refund my money in 72 hours.
Now one month after the original phone call I receive an email stating that I can view my newest bill. Even though I owe nothing, I know that can change. This resulted in another phone call with a marathon wait. The rep again told me my service was discontinued and my refund was being processed. I explained to her that this was the third time to call and I did not want to hear from them again. I plan to contact my bank and block this company, unfortunately I have to wait until they refund my money.

BEWARE!!! This is a big company who seems to have the policy of charging folks and then stonewalling in hopes the common people will give up.
