Rent-direct is a rip-off. I signed up to this online apartment search website to only find out they never offer what they list on the website. I did a free member sign-up that never allowed me the contact info of the owner/landlord... I'm cool with that.
Then for some strange reason... This company can tell if you went to there site to look at there listings. So after visiting the site only once, I start receiving multiple calls everyday for over a month from a sales rep stressing me to pay $170 to become a full member where I would have access to pictures, contact info (Landlord or owner), etc.
So after one month when I was officially ready to move... I signed up and paid the $170, only to cancel after four days of service.
I cancelled because out of ten apartments that I inquired about... Four apartments had third party contacts (not the numbers of the landlord or owner like I was told) who knew very little about the apartment.
Seven out of ten had the same pictures with different addresses... And three out of ten of the apartments were much higher in rent then what was listed on www.rent-direct.com.
So when I asked to speak with a manager (Nathan), he tells me that I can't get my refund back until after 60 days.
I can be patient when it comes down to something minor like ordering a computer part, or even buying a used car... But you should never scam someone with one of the bare necessities of life (food, clothes, shelter).
