National Health Care Discount
AKA NHCD is a fraudulent & deceptive work at home ripoff scam company that lies

I thought I had a legitimate employment opportunity because I found the Lead Geration position at National Health Care Discount, AKA, NHCD listed on the Michigan Talent Bank on the internet. This is a state run agency that is also known as Michigan Works. It is a free service that allows you to search for jobs online all over the state. However, after I found out that I had been ripped off by NHCD I called the Michigan Talent Bank to report them and was told that there was nothing that they could do about this matter.

I e-mailed Tamera Ambrose, the recruiter for NHCD and within two days she had called me and asked me if I had time for an interview. After she interviewed me over the phone she informed me of a $59.00 fee I would need to pay for an access code to be placed on my phone so they could pay for all the phone calls I made. I asked her if this was in fact telemarketing and she said yes, which was no big deal with me because I had done some telemarketing before and didn't mind it. She then told me that I would get paid $3.00 per lead I had called. She put me on a three way call with the BBB and I was impressed with their credentials.

I told her I had to discuss this with my husband and she told me I had to decide soon because she was interviewing a lot of people and she couldn't "hold" a job for me.
My husband and I then perused their website and after much thought decided to go for it and pay the $59.00 for the access code to be added to our phone. I sure wish I had found this site before I made THAT decision!
By the end of the first week I had made 16 leads and was very good at the job. I was also told my the recruiter, Tamera Ambrose, that I would get paid every Friday. I contacted my Leads Manager, Erica Homs, and was told that I had to wait until the second Friday of my employment before I would get paid. She said that the recruiter had misinformed me. I was displeased, but I gave her the benifit of the doubt.

By my third week with the company I was doing very well and had averaged 10 leads per week but still had NOT been paid yet. I then called my Leads Mgr. Again, Erica Homs, and was told that I would ONLY get paid for the leads that the Salesperson had contacted and NOT the leads I had called on that week. She gave me some cockamamie explanation about how people were lying about the lead information they turned in and this "new" procedure of getting paid once the salesperson had contacted the lead was to ensure that WE (the leads generator) didn't rip off NHCD!!!

Needless to say, I was never told this when I was recruited for a job. I was very upset, so much so that my husband even got on the phone to talk to her and try to make some sense of all this. To appease me, she then told me that she would promote me to the Recruiting Dept. Due to the fact that I had done so well in leads. I was to get paid $10.00 for every person I recruited to work for NHCD in the Leads Dept. I so badly wanted this to work out, that I decided to give it a go. (Again, I wish I hadn't!)

I was e-mailed the training packet (all 36 pages) from my Recruiting Mgr. Melissa Ginther, and I was scheduled for my training session the next day where I was trained in a conference call with a manager and other new recruiters.in that training session, I was told NOT to tell the prospective "hire" that you ONLY get paid for a lead IF and WHEN the salesperson calls on it. I was also told to hire ANYONE and EVERYONE that was willing to pay that $59.00 fee for the access code. I was also to pressure people into making a decision on the spot and NOT to take time to think about it, but to do my best to "make that sale" while on the phone.

I was to read from a script to give the illusion that I was actually interviewing the potential "hire" so that person would feel that I was somehow doing them a favor by letting them work for NHCD. At this point, I truly realized just how ripped off I had been and just how I was expected to rip others off in the same way. When I e-mailed my Recruiting Mgr, Melissa Ginther, about all this, she called me the next morning to discuss the matter. She basically gave me a bunch of double talk to explain away all the lies and deception practiced by the company. I then told her that I wouldn't do it anymore and that I wanted my $59.00 deposit back.

She told me to apply for it online but if I had not called 300 leads withing the three weeks I worked for NHCD that I would NOT get my money back. I was sure that I had called at least that many leads, so I applied for the refund. As of yet, I have not gotten my money back or heard from them whatsoever. Please be forewarned that this company does NOTHING but rip off its employees with deciept, half truths and out right LIES!
