I received a letter in the mail from NCO Financial Systems, Inc. That my account has been sent for collection.
Creditor - America Online Inc.
Amount $59.80
I have never owned an America Online account. I have never used their service. NCO Financial has agreed to mark the debt as disputed. However, I cannot get AOL to remove the debt. I have talked to both the billing and fraud departments at AOL. I have asked for supervisors as well. They will not remove the debt because I cannot answer the verifying questions on the account. I cannot get them to understand that I cannot answer those questions because it is not my account. I have never had one. They could not even discuss what the charges are for or when the were incurred since I could not answer any of the verifying questions. How do I get this debt off my record? This is insane.
Someone can use my name and set up an account and I get a mark on my record. AOL will give me no information on the debt either.
