I wanted to buy a video projector. I went into my local Best Buy store to look at them. They had one for $700 that I thought would do what I wanted but didn't have any on display at all. I asked if they would let me view it back in their home theater department. They sales guy told me they couldn't and that I would have to call corporate about it. What the heck does that mean??? I didn't understand that so I told him I wasn't going to buy a $700 projector that I had not seen. He told me that I could try it and just return it if it withing 15 days if didn't meet my needs so I agreed. I purchased it and took it home. When I got it home I set it up and tried it out. It was horrible! It was very dim and the colors were washed out and very hard to see.in dark sections of shows you almost couldn't see any detail on screen at all. It obviously didn't meet my needs. I decided to take it back and cough up the cash for a more expensive projector.
I took it back into the store and at the return desk was told that I had to pay a 15 percent restocking fee. I asked to speak to a manager and was presented with a smart mouthed punk that refused to hear what I said about being misled by my salesman. He said that the restocking fee was not negotiable. He told me that it was because State Farm (insurance company) was just down the street. Whatever that means. I don't know why that should cost me $100! When I got mildly angry about getting ripped off and started telling other customers about it he ordered me to leave. He started threatening and gloating and told me he was going to call the police and I was going to go to jail. I took my projector and left. There were 2 other adults with me at the time and I guarantee that none of us are ever going to buy anything else at best buy ever again and will tell everyone we know about this!
So here I am with a $700 waste of money that I bought sight unseen that totally does not meet my needs. I was told that I could bring it back but was not told about the $100 charge that I would have to pay for trying out the equipment that they would not let me view in the store.
