Ripoff Practicers Extraordinaire, Crooked and Misleading Advertising

Video Professor ripped me off after I responded to a 'free' offer for a laptop computer. I had to sign up with at least three sponsored sites, and wouldn't you know it, the first one I hit (Video Professor) was the WORST experience. It was also, though, the only experience, as I put on hold the other 2 sponsors. Good thing, too... They might be right now here on this site reported as bad business practicioners!

The website link I followed did not provide any info that there would be recurring billing to my bank debit card, so I signed up for my 3 "free" CDs. I recieved the box of 3 CDs, but after checking my bank statement, also found out that they had brazenly charged my card a fee of $79.95! They first, though, charged my card only $5.95 - which was supposed to be for $6.95 and then the next day they came back and charged me the resulting $1.00 balance. Then, 2 weeks later, they charged my card the $79.95!

I called my bank, informed them of what had occurred and filed out a formal complaint and dispute with them. I provided them with all print-outs that I could - had saved the webpage showing the initial 'standard $6.95' fee they were supposed to charge - all other info was erased from the webpage, though. I also visited their regular site, and still to date have yet to see ANYTHING about recurring payments. My bank reimbursed the $79.00... But then they brazenly charged me ANOTHER $79.95 on November 10th - less then 30 days from their first, initial theft-billing. I then had to have my card closed, and the bank issue another one, because they could not block Video Professor from repeatedly charging my card. My bank also issued a credit for the monies they *stole* from my account.

These people are crooks! Just think of all the people they've already hit who have not spoken up about it, or filed for reimbursement of those high-cost fees and charges! And just why should it cost so much just for simple computer lessons!

These people have to be stopped! Take the proper precautions to protect yourselves against these internet thieves, who unethically advertise one thing ("FREE CD Lessons") and then turn around and crookedly fish monies from your account. They are deliberately misleading many people with their false advertising practices!

Beware! Forewarned is forearmed.
