Complaint / Review
True.com - HDVE - True Beginnings
Ripoff fraudulant billing

I am surprised that I found only 1 complaint about this company. These people are shady to say the least.
I thought I remembered this company offering a 3 month trial period and then they would bill me at my convenience every 3 months after that.

That was presumably why I was supposed to give my debit/credit card number in order to check out this site.
Like the other person complaining about this company here, I decided to check this offer out maybe mostly trying to get over my phobia of using my card on the internet. After checking out this site for 10 or 15 seconds I also decided that I had no interest in being a member of true.com.

After searching for some time about how to cancel, I finally found a phone number to call and after a few calls I was able to get through whereupon I cancelled my membership.

Around a week or so later I was surprised that my account was billed for $39.99. I then called True.com and asked 'what's up'? The person who answered the phone admitted that he could see that I had immediatly cancelled my account with them and that I should not have been billed and that they would return the funds to my account. A few days later I called again asking why my money had not been reimbursed. The guy said that these things take time, but because I was getting ready to file a dispute with my bank that he would get on it that same day.

Eventually the funds were returned to my account but one day in June when my account was overdrawn I saw that they billed me for another $39.99 two more times. I then filed a card dispute with my bank and had two more charges of $39.99 canceled by my bank while they investigated these charges.

As I remember, I was supposed to be billed once every 3 months if I decided to become a member, but charges popped up at various times over around a 12 week period.
Today (7/12/05) I see that they charged me another $39.99. My bank and the WA state attorney general apparently do not have the know how to stop my account from being debited by anyone with my account number, so I decided to get a new card number.

As I was writting this complaint, I notice that True.com has sent me another e-mail giving me access to there site as if I had never cancelled this account.
It's like you can check out but never leave with this company.
