Offered a $20 Lowe's gift card/2 months membership for $1 but never sent me the gift card or information packet for the company and billed me for subsequent months after trial period without my knowledge. I had called them before they started billing to cancel and they never cancelled, other time I called they said they'd send me the gift card anyway and never did. I never even got their catalog for ordering items so I was unaware I was still being billed for nothing.
After much complaining by phone/fax/letter they refunded me for the most recent month I was billed but not previous ones nor the initial $1 to start up the membership 2 month trial. I never received a formal apology and the last phone representative I talked to was unpleasant and rattled off the address/fax I contact very quickly. This company has numerous "headquarters" and city locales, the one I listed is to their website. They're still overing the gift card to Lowes if you join (Lowes is not to blame as far as I know).
I've seen other potential scams online similar to this companies but they may or may not rip you off. I think they try to ship out the gift card so late that you're forced to keep the membership well past the trial period. But I never received the gift card at any point! Just a form to mail back if you have your membership ID # which I never received and that would have taken weeks longer and more months to pay. I guess I learned my lesson, if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.
