I received my Qwest phone bill and there was a charge from Integretel for $15.74. After calling Integretel, they connected me to Optimum Voice, who advised that by completing a survey request for free coupons online, my husband had authorized them to create a voicemail service and charge us for it. They did have his information from the online survey, and claimed that by entering his date of birth, that he had electronically signed the request for service.
At first, the Optimum Voice rep refused to refund the initial $15.74 but I told him that this was a racket and I would not pay it. He told me that he would cancel it and that it would continue to appear on my bill for 1-2 more billing cycles before it would be corrected but that I would not have to pay it. No kidding! I am not going to pay them one cent!
Words of caution: Check your phone bills carefully and watch out when you request anything online!
