I received a statement for payment of four telephone charges to the United Kingdom, totaling $215, claiming calls made to access pay-per-view websites. These were the result of unwanted and undeletable pop-ups that appeared on my PC during web surfing.
After numerous attempts to delete them, I turned off my PC, only to see them appear the following day. I have then retired that PC from further log-ons, using it only as a word processor, and have reverted to a so far uncontaminated laptop for internet transactions.
These charges were fraudulent and will not be paid. I am awaiting my long distance statement and am prepared to dispute any similar charges therein.
