Dr. Katalin Eckstein
Inexperienced and aggresively-tempered

My child very unfortunately suffers from a psychiatric illness with early onset since childhood. He tragically fell under the care of this inexperienced and aggresively-tempered Dr. Katalin Eckstein.
Dr. Eckstein's best wisdom had her believing everything my son was telling her, taking it all at face value, rather than seeing that his stories, thoughts and behaviors are classic symptoms of his mental illness. She raged at me that children "do not make this up" and that I have "physically and psychologically abused my child for years."
Rather than treat him with early intervention, she and her guardian ad litem partner proceeded to report to the Court and to Officers of the Court that I, the parent, have abused this poor child. The result was that I wasn't able to see him, or my healthy child, for years, including birthdays and holidays.
This, it must be stated, she did with virtually no contact with his prior treatment professionals, who were fully awareness of his early onset illness.
This, it must be stated, she did with virtually no contact with the four court-ordered doctors who reported emphatically that I, the parent, have no mental illness and no profile or history whatsoever for child abuse. Neither she, nor her guardian ad litem partner, contacted, or referred to, any of those findings.instead, she continued to report about a parent that she virtually never treated and did not know.
Simultaneously, she reported for years how "well" my child was doing at the home to which he had been sent. I have since found out that, in fact, his mental illness continued, and he also began an early onset of severe drug abuse under her care, and continued to have detentions, expulsions and police reports. At times, he was virtually in danger.
I want to emphasize, Dr. Eckstein reported to the forensic court officers and to the judge and guardian ad litem, that my son was doing fine! He could have been dead.
All attempts to report Dr. Eckstein failed, largely because she insisted that I have a mental diagnosis that I don't have, and am therefore not reliable. Based on what my son was telling her.
My beautiful son now sadly sits in a long-term facility. He never received the early intervention I had prayed he would get. Dr. Eckstein merely enabled and embedded his illness even more, to the point that he was awarded for it. It has now become so severe that it has run a chronic course.
I report this because I am concerned that Dr. Eckstein's resume speaks of "forensic experience" and "recommendations to the Court." I feel that I must let people know that she has no real experience or certifications in these areas, and virtually played with my son's life. He is sicker now than ever.
In conclusion, I want to report that what Dr. Eckstein did with this early onset child has affected my healthy child as well, because Dr. Eckstein reported that I am such a "mentally ill child abuser" that I should not be allowed near either child unsupervised. My healthy child has never forgotten his years "in jail without me" as he describes it, and although happy, struggles to figure out why his brother was never helped but rather kept away from the parent and doctors who genuinely wanted to help him
In short, Dr. Eckstein, along with her guardian ad litem, was a family's worst nightmare rather than a family's guide to health, wellness and resources for mentally ill children.
I often try to forget her, to pray for her, and to forgive her. Now, as my son lies in a long-term hospital for all the reasons I told her early on and which she refused to believe, I hurt as a parent more than ever. The questions abound in my mind. Why didn't she help him instead of enabling him? Why did she insist I have "Munchausen's" and am making this up because kids don't act like this? Why did she let it get worse? Why didn't she report how horribly he was deteriorating? Or, worse, did she not even know? Why did she refuse to contact any of the doctors who knew and would have corroborated his condition? Why couldn't he get early intervention? All the why's... All the would have's, could have's, and should have's.
Please I recommend you go to any other doctor than Katalin Eckstein.
