To the authors of the 17 reports on this site filed against Diane Van Ness, I agree and have experienced first-hand her wrath, extortion, and ethics violations.
But what about her partner, Dr. Katalin Eckstein? A young kid straight out of school, she bowed down to the lowest of ethics violations together with Diane Van Ness.
In both of the cases I handled with this duo, their paradigm was the same: their hot tempers, illegal activities, false reports of child abuse, and cutting off parent/child contact if they were not paid by the first of each month.
I never did understand Katalin Eckstein's role in this. Did she know of Diane Van Ness' extortion when she reported to the Court that the parent was cancelling visits with the children? Didn't she know it was Diane who was cancelling them due to lack of payment of her bill and Katalin Eckstein's bill? Was she in on this with Diane or wasn't she?
In either case, she had an ethical responsibility to NEVER cut off contact between parent and child for financial reasons. Paid or unpaid, and my clients always paid her, finances cannot determine parent/child contact.
Even worse, Dr. Katalin Eckstein testified in a court of law against a parent she never treated... She even diagnosed the parent. This, without any contact with the parent's real doctor.
Never in my entire career have I ever seen any doctor testifying against a parent she never treated.
It was at this point that I sensed that Katalin Eckstein was in on the extortion with Diane Van Ness. Why? Because there were only two people in the courtroom that day: herself and Diane. No opposing counsel. No genuine treating doctor. Nobody. No proper notice was given.
This hot-tempered young doctor, who was not even licensed as a PhD yet, was so aggressive on the phone that the one time she spoke to me during her entire tenure on these cases, I was virtually shaken up by her irrational demeanor.
I told her she must have actual contact with both parties and their doctors before objectively reporting anything to any officer of the court, but years went by and she flat-out refused. All of her information was from Diane Van Ness. She continued to destroy my clients and their families, including the children she was keeping parent-less, by refusing objective contact and first-hand information, while testifying to the forensic psychologist and the judge of the "horrific child abuse" in these concocted cases.
She even went so far as to report to the Court that the parent (s) should NEVER have unsupervised visits with the children again until they are 18.
Now that this young doc has had children, I wonder how she would feel if some doctor who never knew or treated her testified to the Court that she should never have unsupervised visits with her own children until they are 18. Based solely on a series of falsified custody battle docs.
She told me, too, that she can only go by the reports she was given. No, no, no and no! Ethically and legally, she can ONLY testify about first-hand knowledge. The majority of what's written in these custody battle reports is falsified by manipulative attorneys and ex-spouses who will say anything just to win a case.
In both of my cases as well as several others my colleagues handled with Diane Van Ness and Katalin Eckstein, there was virtually no child abuse. Katalin Eckstein's testimony, as well as that of Diane Van Ness, bordered on the bizarre and paranoid.
The genuine treating psychologists, who knew there was no child abuse, were never contacted by either Diane Van Ness nor Katalin Eckstein. They called these cases by this duo "sick, " and asked to testify against them if any ethics hearing was ever held.
Be wise and do your research before engaging this unethical duo.
