I have lived in my home for 25 years and am having trouble with my stairs. I don't want to leave my home so I checked into stair lifts. I have two levels so I needed 2 units. Salesman from A 1 Medical was very helpful and set me up with two units. They took care of the measuring and installing. The top unit is fine.
The bottom unit is completly worthless.
I have a door at the end of my lower level which the installer and the company were aware of. This unit is about 2 steps away from the landing and it is impossible to get out of the chair onto a stair even with 2 people helping. I have pictures proving this. The fire Dept said they would have to break the units with an axe if ever necessary for me to exit the house quickly. I have called, emailed and sent pictures to the company. Finally I got an answer saying I signed the waiver so do not call or email them again. The waiver I signed was to allow the installer to get paid. I wrote on this waiver that I was not satified with the stair lifts. No one can find this paper or won't look for it. Please tell me what I can do. I have $6,000.00 into these lifts. My caregiver was having to crawl over the bottom unit to come upstairs. I had the installer take the unit out, pack it up and it is in my garage. Thank you kindly. Any help would be appreciated or any advice as to what to do. I am reluctent to hire an attorney because of the cost involved.
