My late mother-in-law had chair lifts installed on 3 small staircases and had nothing but trouble with them. They would not operate properly and were installed incorrectly. The chair stopped at the last step and not the landing so she had to climb out of the chair and up one step onto the landing. Not an easy or safe task for someone with limited use of her legs.
There were numerous mechanical problems and it took days and many phone calls to have the lifts serviced.
After she passed, we found the bill and could not believe she paid $6,300 for the chair lifts (and they weren't even new, they were previously used).
Now we are trying to have them removed and after six weeks of phone calls we still can't get them to the house. Plus they said they will buy them back from us for, get this, $750.
