My wife and I joined World Gym, because we were called by them saying we won a membership for two for two years. We only had to pay the month maintenance fee for each of us for the two years up front. We agree to pay $110.96 per month for four months. We only agreed to this contract because we were assured we could work out at any of their affiliated gyms during our two year contract. We were advised one of their affiliates was Metro Gym in Clinton Township, MI, which is close to my place of work, and much closer to our home than World Gym, so we opted to join.
In April, while at Metro Gym we were advised that people who were World Gym members could no longer attend any other gyms because World gym cancelled their relationship with all affiliated gyms. Metro Gym was very upset about this happening. We live more than 16 miles from World gym and were not going to commute there to exercise. Again, the only reason we joined is because we were asured we could go to Metro Gym. I called World Gym on April 6, and was advised there was nothing they would do for us. I called several more times, leaving messages for the manager, and never receieved a call back.
