I had been a member of a WOW gym in eastern CT and had paid in full for that year, and didn't have the money to renew at the time the 1 year contract ended recently this spring. I enjoyed being a member and it was indeed a nice gym: clean, machines well kept, etc.
I saw an ad on television yesterday advertising $99 yearly membership rates, but when I called was told that this was for the WOW gyms in another part of the state.
Also, when asked about paid-in full fees for several months, or a year, I was told I would still have to pay the join-up fee, even though I was a member only 2 months ago. They didn't even offer a reduced join-up fee. So, after explaining the various pricing options, the sales representative told me basically what I was just about to tell him... To "think about it".
I am thinking... Thinking about World Gym, Fitness World, and Planet Fitness among others.
