Company lures stylists with misleading benefits, and bonuses, pays minimum wage, discourages client building

I worked for master cuts a total of six months and I have a lot of negative things to say about the company, which is one of the Regis Corporations many chain salons. First the manager mislead me into believing I would get sugnificant pay increases for bringing my service sales and numbers up, and that I would get reward points for meeting my monthy goals, that can be redeemed to buy salon equipment, which I thought was great I had planned to save up points each month so I could buy a new pair of cutting shears as my old ones were getting dull. I was told they had full time hours for me also. I knew starting wage was only minimum wage, but I had no other options for work and I believed with hard work I could up my base pay. As time went by I made my goals and above but my pay increases didn't even bring me to $8.00 an hour, I also noticed that I didn't recieve any reward points. I complained and the manager told me that every stylist had to reach their personal goals and the salon store total goal for anyone to get any points. So basically even though I did my job and others lacked I got no reward for my work.in addition my taxes were so high on one check where I had helped out at another store because all of the stylist quit in the same day, all that I earned extra from that went to taxes because the Regis corporation failed to process my tax form with my claims on it.
On average I sold $2,000 in products every month, and made only 10 percent, I also had to use all my tips in gas to get to work because gas was almost $4.00 a gallon. After my deductions I took home very little pay especially since the company intentionaly refused to give anyone a full 40 hours. At one point I had to start borrowing money for gas to get to work, I was having trouble paying my student loan for Cosmetology school etc. One day I decided that I would calculate the amount of money I was making Mastercuts, and mind you there was usually three to five employees on staff making whatever amount an hour too for Mastercuts, in total services and retail sales it equaled $50.00 an hour average according to my hours in one month time. $50.00 an hour! They didn't even have the decency to pay me $10.00 an hour or give some points for new equipment which I wear and tear on their clients.
In addition Mastercuts required a new blade for each client when using the feather razor, they cost about $1.00 a blade, and Mastercuts refused to pay for them so I finaly refused to perform razor cuts.in addition to under paying employees, Mastercuts intentionaly puts barriers between clients and stylist by not allowing appointments for services like highlights, and perms unless an obnoxious amount of conditions are met, making it confusing for the client and stylist to book them. Since chemicals brought in a great deal of income towards our pay increases I felt gyped because we couldn't get customers to come in for these services regularly because of the rules. Mastercuts also has an annoying price system which charges a person that gets a highlight and a lowlight and an allover color full price for all three services, which most salons would package and give a price break since the stylist really isn't performing three full color services, the clients don't like the prices and walked out sometimes. Also almost everyone had some kind of discount, mall discount, military, student, senior, which I'm not against but almost all our clients came from the University so our sales were cut by about 20% each client. Coupons are nice for advertising but you have take a coupon break to give your stylist the reward they deserve for the work. The only posative thing I have to say about Mastercuts is that I liked my co-workers and clients, and the salon was always stocked and clean.
I reccomend not working for Mastercuts or any other Regis salon, they eat up all the salon chains then drive down wages, they have become somewhat of Monopoly in my area to the point where i have quit Cosmetology until a salon is ready to pay for my services.
