We had a Fire in our house and my husband was burned on both hands, right foot, lower back and Backside. He was taken to Broward General for their Trauma unit. After many hours of great care in the emergency room we were taken to his room. (Around 2:30 A.M.) This was on a wed and to make a very long story shorter, Vista said he was to go home with Home Health care on FRIDAY! Home Health care came over sat morning with JUST AFEW THINGS OF GAUZE! I had to drive around everywhere to get creams, tape, gauze, etc so the nurse could rebandage my husband! Sunday was alittle better but still they had no materials for his BURNS! I must also say No one from the hospital even called to see how he was doing! Monday I took him to our Primary doctor and He could not believe what he was seeing, He had us go to a wound care doctor and when we went there they took pictures of all the burns and said he had 3rd DEGREE BURNS and NEVER SHOULD HAVE LEFT THE HOSPITAL! We were then sent to Jax Burn Center where the Burn Doctors and staff were wonderful! They also were shocked we were told to leave! We will find out monday if he needs skin graftts on his foot, We are sure by the looks of the burns he will be having the skin grafts and he will be staying in Miami for at least a week! As of today we have not heard a word from the doctors from Broward General! They dont even know we have gone to Miami! I would like to know How can a Health insurance send in a person that does not even look at the burns and just asks How are you today! Then tells the Hospital to send them home! Vista and Broward General are at the BOTTOM of my list that is for sure! Thank od I took him to OUR doctor because we had a script that said call in a week to make a follow up at the hospital!
Sorry but we might be having surgery on those Burns you all said were well enough to go home! You tell me... Burns on both hands, right foot, Lower back and backside! Does that sound like he should have been sent home after not even two full nights??? Wed 2;30 A.M. Home Friday 5:00 P.M. We pay sooo much for health insurance and this is what we get! It scares the HELL out of me!!! P.S. Id like to hear from afew people that work in the health care system! That would be a shocker!!
