It was assumed I didn't know or understand what a crown or build-up is. It was also assumed I didn't know what a healthy root looked like on an x-ray. The root looked very healthy and there wasn't much obvious decay under the old fillings. Again my teeth/fillings were displayed on the T. V screen and the scare tactics regarding "leaking" old silver fillings discussed. These same teeth were reviewed in the same manner 8 years ago. Only one of the cracked ones had begun to give me little warning pains when chewing (fracture opening slightly). Right away it was determined it had to have a build-up, no way around it, and a root canal could be a part of the plan. I went to another dentist for another opinion, and had to have another x-ray since the print-out I was given in lieu of my x-ray from the first dentist was given to me. No build-up was necessary, there is alot of tooth left to crown, and the root was not comprimised and in no way needed a root canal.
Always get a second opinion!
