I contracted with Ballys total fitness in August and laterlast year in April moved to another location where there were no gyms in the vicinity for at least 50 miles even more. I mailed a cancellation letter and original contract and member ID card along with my $50 cancellation fee in accordance to THEIR terms and conditions on contract. About 6 months later I receved in the mail a collections notice for over $500 owing for past monthly fees and thretens to send to outside collections. I spoke with Corporate and they said they denied my cancellation because I did not qualify even though I stated the cancellation fee on check and did not receive any correspondence that I did not qualify! They said I had to prove I dont live anywhere w/in a 25 mile vicinity of their gym. I proved it to them with pay stubs of my current address and they still insist that I do not qualify and I owe them more money. What will it take to stop these people for breech to their own contractual obligations. I really think they should be investigated for fradulent business practices!!!
