This dentist has front girl at the desk (name starts with an "N") who is a saleswoman who tries her hardest to sell you on the most expensive and unnecessary procedures regardless of need. I went in as a new patient requesting x-rays and a teeth cleaning. (I was switching dentists after years at my previous dentist because I wanted to get a second opinion and maybe better service. Also, please note that I had just had x-rays a few months ago and a cleaning 6 months ago.) The first appointment turned into more than 2 1/2 hours of "N" selling me on over $7000 of cosmetic procedures and really trying to push me to get a loan through their finance company (which I did that night, but would get an answer in the morning on the acceptance).
The dentist did take my x-rays but said I had 6 cavities (the other dentist did not say I had cavities) and that I needed SEVEN veneers etc... By the way, when I was sitting in the chair for hours with the "bib" on still (hours after my x-rays were done), an assistant just came up and took a mold but I was assured that they were just getting everything ready 'in case' I agreed to all the cosmetic procedures.
The next day I was to come back for a cleaning, which I did. I was a few minutes early and I could hear "N" through the door going through her sales pitch again to an unsuspecting victim. Finally a few minutes later, "N" said that even though I had called her every early in the morning (about 9:30am) to tell her I was not interested at this time to spend $7000), I would be charged $2500 for the impression that was made last night of my teeth because she had already sent it to the lab. (Now she had only known the loan had gone through for less than an hour max before I called and I had never Ok'd any procedure.) When I told her I would go to small claims court, the Dr. (Behzad Abadi) finally said I wouldn't be responsible for charge for the impression.
Now it was about 5:25pm - only 25 minutes later but it was obvious that they had never even intended to clean my teeth. So I had spent over 3 hours during 2 visits and all I got was some x-rays which cost me $95 and they were still trying to push me to spend $7000 on cosmetic dentistry even though I had told her there was s good chance I would be unemployed in a few weeks and would have trouble paying an extra $160 a month for 5 years! It should be noted too that "N" insisted that a medical and dental tax benefit would be very lucrative and that I should check with my accountant. She said if the procedure was more than 7% of your salary, it could get you a huge refund. Well, she probably never expected me to actually check with my accountant but I did, and the conclusion was that I would get a return of $75 (!) on a $40,000 a year income and $1500 if I had a $120,000 a year income (by spending $7000 on dental work). Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that these people smell money and just eat it up regardless of the patient's needs. N was ready to make a guy about to be unemployed buy $7000 of veneers!!!
