I bought Aflac's new Vision Plan back in December when they came to our workplace, telling us about the wonderful benefits they would pay. I signed up and have been paying on that, as well as a couple more of their policies.
Three weeks ago I went for an eye exam and bought contact lenses. I sent in the paperwork, including a copy of the receipt/bill. They did send me $35 for the eye exam like they said they would, but I was supposed to get $50 toward the price of the contacts.
What I got instead was a letter saying that I had to send a copy of the bill! Like I hadn't sent it at all. I was livid, because it's not the first time they try to get out of paying benefits I have a right to.
The first time was last year, when I got my physical. I was supposed to get $60 because I had a physical. So I faxed the paperwork. I got a letter back, saying I had to fax them certain paperwork, so I refaxed it.
I got a letter back saying they don't pay for physical therapy!!! I had a physical, not physical therapy! So I faxed that letter back with a note from me in big letters explaining that I didn't have physical therapy, only a physical.
I called our representative, Robin Folkers, explaining the problem to her, and she said to fax her the papers. So for the third time, I faxed the paperwork.
Not only didn't I get the wellness benefit of $60, I didn't even get the courtesy of a reply!!!
And now it's happening all over again with the vision policy. I fax them the paperwork and the bill, and they tell me they need the bill in order to process my claim.
These people are nothing but a big scam, and I wish the word would really get out about them. I am leaving my job in October, and so don't have to wait until the "open enrollment" period in December to cancel them. Paying them for nothing is what I have been doing. And you can bet in my next job, if Aflac walks in to sign people up, I'm NOT going to be at that meeting!!
