I was a policyholer w / aflac (intemsive Care) A. Daily Hospitall ICU For: Days1-7;$600.00 Days 8-15:$1,000.00 Benefit Limited To 15 Days Per Period Of Confinement. B.) Daily Sub-Acute (Step-Down Unit) ICU:$250.00/Day Up To 15 Days. (Def. Of Policy) (ICU): a specifically designated facility of the hospital that provides the highest level of medical care and that is restricted to those patients who are critically ill or injured. (1) Intensive care unit; (2) Cardiac intensive care unit; (3) infant (Neonatal) intensive care unit.
I was in the hospital for 10 days 6 of those days was spent on the ccu unit with round the clock nurses and doctors with medical records to prove it. AFLAC for some reason don't know what CCU stands for. I have sent my medical records and the specifically say Critical Care. Now Im being told that its not intensive care but my policy say for critcal care patient. It could be the way the policy is worded or maybe not. I was in the hospital for spinal leak due to puncture spinal cerebral which turned into spinal menegitis. The first attempt to repair didn't work that's how I ended in intensive care. Iwas on the same unit as a sick friend of mine who was dying and later passed a few days after my release. If someone could give me some advic I would gladly appreciate it! I also realize that there may not be anything I can do. Just want everyone out there to please read between the lines when getting those types of insurance. There's always a catch!
