Okay, my father signed up for the cancer policy through Aflac several years before his diagnosis of lung cancer in August. After having his lung removed, he was no longer able to work and begain to file claims on his policy with Aflac. While he was going through hell, Aflac was great. His rep was very nice, I spoke with him several times, and informed my dad that he would take care of everything, and he did. All of the money he was promised arrived on time and my dad was able to pay his bills, and live.
Well, my dad was in and out of the hospital for several months and finally went in permanently after his lung was punctured being place on a respirator. So, while my dad was alive I took care of his Aflac filings, so that we could pay his medical bills, his insurance was canceled, and he was paid what was agreed upon.
However, once my dad passed away in March of 08' I was told that I would receive his last payment that was filed before he died. His rep was very kind, and said that he would make sure it was taken care of. Well, that did not happen. I was given the run around for about a month, and then once I did receive his payment, it was half. Now, it was not my money, but I was left to clean up his medical bills and it was already a difficult time. My wife and I called the rep and this time he was very short, and would not return our calls. Our last conversation was basically him saying well that's all you get and stop calling. So, we left it at that and have not contacted him again. However, we get medical bills every day and its a struggle to keep up.
Therefore, if you plan to buy Aflac, I would say do it... Just don't plan on dieing...
