Feeling Betrayed - Leather sofa

On 25 Nov. 2011 we bought a brown leather couch for $500.00 (marked down from $1400) in Vegreville Brick. After I paid for it the manager told me that it had to be out of the store in 24 hours. The winds were 120km and we did not feel comfortable taking it home that day and we were unable to come the next day. We had a 5th wheel attachment on the truck and did not think it would ride safely. With the winds. We asked if we could come back in 48 hours and he repeated that it had to be out of the store in 24 hours. He got us cardboard to cover the 5th wheel and rachits to hold it down... Needless to say it fell off. We brought it back to the Brick and he said he would send it away for repairs. On 19 Dec. 2011 we went to the store and he said felt bad for us and that if it was irrepairable we could possible split the loss. (he had a customer at the til at the time) On 23 Dec. 2011 I got a call from the manager saying it was irrepairable and we were out the $500.00. I reminded him that we did not feel comfortable taking it that day and he said it was my choice. He suggested that I could have bought it next week and that no one had been interested in it for the last 6 months. This was not suggested to me at the time I was paying for the couch nor was returning my money. I felt betrayed because if the couch had sat on the floor for 6 months without interest what is another 48 hours... And the couch was paid for. My son is building a house and will be needing appliances, furniture, etc. And unfortunately he will not be buying local or at a BRICK store.
