Below is KFC's official press release which is posted on their website, in response to reneging on their free meal coupons:
"We are so sorry, but due to the overwhelming response to our FREE Kentucky Grilled Chicken™ meal coupon, we can no longer redeem the free coupon at this time. But we will honor our commitment to giving you a free Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal.
Please visit a participating KFC restaurant for a rain check form. Complete the form, attach your original coupon, and give it to the KFC restaurant manager or postmark per the form’s instructions, by May 19, and we’ll send you a rain check for your free Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal at a later date, plus a free Pepsi with our compliments. Your participating KFC restaurant will provide you with the form you need.
Please note that the redemption periods of the rain checks will vary. All other terms and conditions of the original free Kentucky Grilled Chicken coupon will apply.

Here's what I say.
Ok you KFC morons, here's the thing:
1) What the freak did you THINK was going to happen when you gave free meals away on Oprah? She's the most influential talk show personality in our history. Did you NOT think EVERYONE IN AMERICA was going to respond?
2) We are in the worst economic period since the Great Depression. PEOPLE ARE FREAKING HUNGRY YO! We want our free meals! I'd wager that a lot of people that are probably living in tents and under bridges counted on this free meal to feed their kids one stinking HOT meal for a change.
3) Of COURSE it's an overwhelming response. Isn't that what you were going for here? If you weren't PREPARED you SHOULDN'T HAVE RUN THE COUPON. What's the point of marketing a free meal if you weren't prepared to man up and do what you said you were going to do?
I say EVERYONE BOYCOTT KFC! Teach them a lesson in backlash management. They can't just yank the public's chain around and then say, "Oooh, sorry! We fucked up! Here's your free meal in DECEMBER and have a Pepsi too!" Tell them to SHOVE it by NOT EATING THERE ANYMORE!!!
