Fradulent billing to blac mail consumers into keeping service

I call At&t's customer service because I get charged about 500.00 dollars in roaming charges while I am visiting NY with my wife.

I explain to the representative that I had "nationwide toll calling" and that I had traveled to Miami in the past year and I was never charged roaming plus long distance.

I was told that I had misunderstood the terms. The rep proceeded to talk to a supervisor about the situation and considering I was a loyal customer they agreed to credit me a little more than half of that I had been charged. Around 300.00 dollars.

3 minutes into the processing of my refund, I tell the rep that I also need to talk about some 50 dropped calls that I was being charged for. I also requested information on when my contracted ended because I was not happy with my service and I wanted to discontinue using it. She asks if she can place me on hold. The supervisor gets on and tells me he is not going to give me the credit unless I agree to continue my service with anothe year contract.

I was furious by this blatent blackmailing and asked to speak with his supervisor. He was rude and told me no one was available but that someone would be calling me in 72 hours. Another "supervisor" from the same office then called me. I explained the situation and he stated that the "customer service rep made the right desicion in not giving me the credit". That it was not blackmail. I then asked how he would feel if the tables turned and he was being blackmailed into something he didnt want. He said "I don't care, and I would understand At&t's position on the issue".

This company make billions of dollars. Since their merger with Cingular, the service has gotten worse. Sometimes I hold 2 hours to speak to a service rep. They have this huge campain about switching over to GSM from TDMA because its better. I did it and my calls constently drop. I also never went over my minutes until now. This is due from all the dropped calls.
