Bait and Switch terms with no notice! Considers dumb phones smart to boost deductible

I upgraded my broken LG Voyager to a LG Env Touch at Verizon a year and a half ago. With it, I added insurance coverage from Asuiron, which was roughly $6 a month with a $49.99 deductible on basic phones such as the Voyager and Env Touch.

Near the end of last year, the inside screen stopped working, so I contacted Asurion to have it replaced. Without notifying me, last July they had changed the definition of smart phone to "Advanced Divice" which also includes simple phones like the ones I have. Now the deductible is $99.99 to fix or replace a lost or broken unit.

The associates at the Verizon store and the ones I spoke with over the phone were all baffled, and all assured me that the LG Env Touch was by no means a "Smart Phone". But in plain white text on their red pamphlets, that device was listed under Advanced Devices.

I have been paying my $6 a month ever since Asuiron took over as the mobile insurance company for Verizon (and several other brands) and I've never been able to use it. When Verizon had their own insurance, I've had phones replaced for $50 or even free 3 times because I was paying the $4 fee every month. Now they are serviced by a crooked company of thieves.

I am not thrilled with Verizon and will be switching companies as soon as the cancellation fees balance out with the savings of the company I am going to. They are a decent company, but expensive. I am frustrated and angry with Asurion because they took my money and demand more than the value of the phone to replace it!

I demand a refund on the coverage I paid for since July when they changed the definitions of "Advanced Devices". Had I known, I would have cancelled it immediately! What use is paying $6 a month and then paying $99.99 to repair or replace a phone that currently has a value of roughly $80?

For now, I have switched back to my old phone with the broken outer screen, as it is more useful than the newer Env with the un-responsive touch screen and broken inner screen.
