Bissell
Little Green Rip-off Machine

If you start at the bottom you can read the correspondence that went back and forth between myself and Bissell "Customer Service". It is fairly apparent that they aren't interested in giving service at all. Also found out from comments on Amazon.com that this is a defective machine and this problem shows up all the time. Obviously Bissell knows about this and has neither fixed the problem nor done anything to satisfy other very unhappy customers. They should be going out of business.

Dear Anne,

Thank you for contacting BISSELL Consumer Services.

We are sorry would could not extend your warranty.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Dear Lisa...

Well that was a waste of my time apparently. If you take the time to go back and look at the initial email I sent to you, I was very clear that the Little Green Machine had been purchased in November and yes it was outside of your 1 year warranty policy. Yet you seemed to be willing to reconsider your position and offer some kind of a "good will" gesture probably due to your fear of bad press throughout the internet. Well you have rescinded that offer, but I haven't rescinded mine, and am about to spend a glorious week or so spreading your lousy quality far and wide throughout the internet world... What fun. So for the minimal "good will" cost on your part of a few lousy parts to have your equally lousy product repaired you are about to get incredibly bad press wherever anyone is likely to research prior to buying one of your machines. Have a nice day...
Sincerely,
Anne

Dear Anne,

Thank you for your response.

We are sorry, we cannot extend your warranty. Bissell offered a one year warranty, and your machine is well out of the one year warranty.

The offer of coupons if you decide to repair your machine is still being offered with the copy of the repair bill.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Dear Lisa,

Thank your for re-considering... Unfortunately my husband and I have been travelling and only recently made it back home to Canada. We live in a small city north of Spokane WA and from previous discussion with your 1-800 number know that the only place that will fix our Little Green Machine is in Kelowna or Penticton a 3 hour drive from us each way. As most repair places expect you to drop the item off and pick it up a week later, this would entail 12 hours of driving plus the exorbitant cost of gas in order to get our little green machine fixed. It strikes me that the best way to handle this problem would be for you to send us all necessary parts and let us take responsibility to have the item fixed in our community. However... The decision is ultimately Bissell's so I will wait to hear your decision. The serial number on my machine is 09077C...

Sincerely,
Anne

Dear Anne,

Thank you for your response.

Prior to being able to assist you, we will need the serial number from your machine. This is located on the label on the bottom or back of the machine next to the model number. It is approximately 6 digits long. Based on this serial number, your machine may be considered for warranty parts and a faxed copy of the receipt may not be necessary. Please respond.

Sincerely,

Lisa

Dear Lisa...
This was hardly the response I was expecting from a company of your size. Did you not understand that for the cost of 105.93 I only got to use the machine twice? I can rent a machine for 25.00 and it isn't my problem if it craps out. I bought the Little Green Machine expecting to get YEARS of use out of it. It's going to cost me 80.00 to get it repaired (not worth it) plus the time, energy, and gas to get it to and from the repair depot... And for this you want to offer me coupons for 30.00 worth of your cleaning product of which I have enough currently to last for the next 10 years. I am SO DISAPPOINTED in you as a company I am sorry to say that if you can't do better than this (and the only acceptable response would be a coupon to buy a NEW Bissell Little Green from my local Walmart) you leave me no choice but to post "negative feedback" at every possible site I can find on the Internet which should be quite comprehensive.

Whatever happened to companies that stood behind their products? I'm not trying to rip you off, although I feel ripped off by your company, I'm a senior citizen on a pension (with really good computer/internet skills) and 105.93 is a lot of money for me to kiss off. REALLY, REALLY DISAPPOINTED in Bissell...

Sincerely,
Anne

Subject: Little Green Compact Deep Cleaner [Incident#: 3043310.68865]

Product Name: Little Green Compact Deep Cleaner
Model: 1400/1425 Series
Comment: Dear Sirs: In November I purchased one of your machines on a trip in our motorhome to Arizona. When I got to Arizona and tried to use the machine it would not spray water unless I could hold the machine above my head at which time it would dribble out. I returned the machine to Walmart 11/05/09 and exchanged it for another machine. This one worked just fine and I was delighted with it. I returned home with the machine in the spring of 2010 and got the pleasure of using it again on all my furniture in my house. This year in March I went to use the machine and found that unless I held it above my head I was back in dribble mode. I contacted your service people by phone and went through a series of checks to see if we could get the machine to work, but to no avail. Your support person gave me the name of a repair shop in El Mirage Arizona and I have subsequently contacted them. Apparently it is going to cost me between 60.00 and 80.00 to get this fixed as your warranty is only valid for one year. Hardly worth while when the machine cost me a total of 105.93. I am MOST DISAPPOINTED with you and your company. I think I had two of the most expensive cleaning jobs done and I might as while have paid someone to come and do the job. It would be nice to think you would give me a new machine, but in this day and age I highly doubt that you will be willing to do this. I will however wait to hear from you before posting my extremely NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE on the internet. Sincerely, Anne
