I purchased a Bissell Little Green Machine at a local Target. It was advertized to have great deep cleaning in spots (on the box) I wanted to attend to our new carpet in a traffic area. I chose to get this machine as opposed to spray-on carpet cleaners like Chem=Dry or the like. The machine did not clean the area 4 feet by 4 feet. It was purchased for $99.99 and once again I say did not clean the small area as was highlighted on the box. I returned the machine perfectly repackaged to the store with my receipt. Oops. I did not clean my carpet fast enough. I was over the 3 month return policy. Target offered me the "opportunity" to buy something else for the same dollar amount ONLY IN THAT DEPARTMENT. It confuses me to think that I should buy another product when the one I purchased with GOOD MONEY did not do the job. I called Target Corporate and they were polite but did not help. They repeated the same options - to buy something else. I don't shop for something I don't need. Why spend the money in this tight economy for something I don't want or that doesn't do the job.
I then called Bissell and they again were polite and suggested I bring the machine to a fix-it store 15 miles away to find the defect. If something is defective, why shouldn't the company accept responsibility and stand by their product doing the job as advertised. I now have a carpet cleaning machine that doesn't clean and $100.00 plus wasted not even counting the hours spent trying to get a resolution from either Target or Bissell in person and on the phone.
What options do I have?
