Dish Network covers up its deceptive practices with deliberate lying, cheating, and stealing

Dish Network was called to cancel their service in mid October by my wife. Their customer service resisted but reluctantly agreed and sent a prepaid UPS box for us to return their equipment to their warehouse in Spartanburg, SC. We did, however, there was only a sticker to put on box and no receipt to consumer for returned goods. That is OK, we felt we were dealing with a reputable company and everything is above board. Boy, were we wrong.

Unbeknown to us, Dish Network has been charging us for 15 months in unauthorized charges on a discontinued debit card. It shows up as sou autopay/dis that was taken out of my checking account. We had no way of knowing this was Dish Network or it would have been dealt with immediately. Did not pick up on it until I was doing my 2011 income taxes and for the first time I received an e-mail statement from Dish Network for $105.61 until mid April. They charged us one month of their service always in advance.

Called customer service to rectify problem. The woman who took the call was evidently from another country and extremely argumentative. She said that we never canceled their service and that they never received their equipment back either. After 45 minutes of getting no where, we were then connected to the executive office of Dish Network in Texas and spoke to a pleasant representative who's ID is T6G. The rep stated the same thing, we did not cancel their service nor did they received their equipment. Asked her to check the serial number of the black box receiver and see if it is in their warehouse or maybe someone else has it and to call us back to verify. She did, and told us she could not find the serial number, so we must still have it. We were told at that time, to add injury upon insult, that we would have to pay $200 to $400. For the equipment that they felt they did not receive. Totally bogus and unacceptable!

Now, this is where the story gets real fishy. We were not charged for satellite service from Jan. 2 till July 1 and told that we requested to put service on vacation hold. We never requested anything, because the service was canceled. Then I asked the rep when did they received the broken receiver? (that was shipped back in 2006.) Now this is when we knew we been lied to the whole time. She said that they receive the broken equipment on October 22 by mistake. She did not go back far enough in her records and gave us the first return date that came up her screen. That date was one week after we canceled their service. So they did receive their equipment and it was recorded.

What it looks like is that Dish Network was giving us the run around all along with untruths to cover up their illegal money withdrawals from our bank account. When I questioned the rep about the date (to prove that they have their property all along), she said she would look into it and get right back to me. Never happened nor will she ever return any of my calls to her. This whole episode is totally unprofessional and on the verge of criminal. A refund of approximately $1,500 is owed. Either this company is totally unorganized or they are unethical and are running a first class scam and using their employees in deceitful practices.

Please, whatever you do, do not do business with a company that is unethical!
